Tell all about your coaching nightmares! From crummy bosses/owners to psychotic parents and bratty kids, let it out!
I had a tot who never would listen and would wander off whenever she felt like it. I spent about 30 mins of a 45 min class chasing her down so she didnt kill herself. I finally just gave up the class!

I have a Nightmare Gymnast who will perform a giant one day then the next day not even do it at all!
I have gone through all the necessary preps and spent time spotting her, I've been understanding, helped her in every way you would expect any decent coach to, I have been nice, I have played games to motivate her, I have been hard on her and had different coaches try their magic with her. Last week I had banned her from doing any Giants and concentrated on other skill and elements needed for our upcoming competitions, we train tonight and I'm hoping that the break will do her some good.
She is 13 and has competed this skill since she was 9.
Competitions are just around the corner and I have lost patients with it now.
What would you do?
I will let you know if she manages them later on. xx

Thats strange... does she avoid the skill because she is scared? or because she has had a bad experience? Is she happy to giant on a metal bar with loops? I guess you need to figure out what the reason is for avoidance. At age 13 there shouldnt be any avoidance behaviour that cant be explained. I have a 7 year old who has an awesome punch frontsault but is scared and often refuses. Even with spot. But i put that down to age/maturity more than anything else. Are there any other skills she avoids? Especially on beam? Good luck! Let me know if i can help out

Hi Ryan,
There are no other problems to worry about, She probably just likes to have someone there alll the time, Problem is once that coach is no longer there she cannot do anything.
Its a shame but we'll get through it.
