How did you get involved with gymnastics? What actually did you make start training? Did your parents sign you up because of jumping on everything in the house? Or did you see a gymnast somewhere and wanted to be able and do what he/she did? Tell us your story!

Not that I remember this, but apparently when I started school I was one stressed little kid (lol at the age of 5!) so my mum put me in kids yoga because the daughter of one of her friends was also doing it. This was at the local rec centre and down the hall from the room where they held the yoga classes was a gym and every week I would beg my mum to let me go and watch (probably because it looked like so much more fun than yoga ). During one school holidays they held a holiday program and my mum let me do it..... the rest, as they say, is history!! ;D ;D

When i was in grade 6, my teacher was the president of the local gym club. We did gym as a school sport- and i was TERRIBLE!! I used to help out as i got older (my little brother was at the school too) setting up and packing away functions that were at the school, and then when i was about 15 they finished building a fancy new gym hall, got a fancy new MAG coach and wanted some kids to start with the new class. So a friend and I started that way. I was apparently one of those kids who developed a bit of coordination in puberty, so i did ok after that

My mom signed me and my sister up for gym and swim at the YMCA because it was at the same time as her aerobics class. It was more of just a tumbling class, but one day a man came in and said he was starting a new gymnastics club in conjunction with the YMCA and asked me and my sister to come try out. We went and Danny (the coach) put me up on the high bar, said start swinging and when I tell you to, let go and I'll flip you, at 5 I was fearless and said, OK. I did my first flyaway and that was that. I was put on pre-team and never looked back.
